Boston North Chapter5th Annual
Good Friday Silent Vigil March 21, 2008 Reading Town Common 4 - 6 p.m. Good Friday is a day when we remember a crucifixion, and it is an appropriate time to stand against the use of state power to kill. Our recent announcement of this fifth annual vigil has had good response. We have commitments from people in several towns, who will be at the Vigil. So far they will come from North Andover, Lowell, Ipswich, Wakefield, Reading, Melrose. If you are planning to join us, please respond to this note with a quick "I'll be there," noting the town from which you come. The Unitarian-Universalist Church, of Wakefield, under the guidance of Eric Reid, has offered the use of its building for a "sign-making party," which will be held on March 6th, 7pm. -- Or you might want to have a "sign party" in your area. A few friends, with heavy-duty magic markers, or paint can have fun creating clear, signs advocating against the death penalty. Even before we had that date, Carolyn Whiting from Reading, had quickly reponded, indicating that she hopes to join the sign-makers! Download: Vigil Flyer and Guidelines for Vigilers. Please have copies made and distribute them widely ... and forward them to friends. The flier can be copied in color, but also looks OK, if in black and white. Let's get the word out, and have the strongest showing of any of the past four vigils!
