"Ring
Around the Common"
WE ARE READY FOR THE GOOD FRIDAY VIGIL !!!!!!
Meet us at the Reading Common
4-6PM, April 6, 2007
The gathering
will be citizens silently giving witness against the DeathPenalty.
At the junctions of Rts. 28 and 129, in the center of Reading, close to 5,000 cars will move, while our Vigil'ers will be there to witness a commitment to make sure that our state does not implement the death penalty. We will be there between 4-6 p.m.
WE HAVE SIGNS FOR ABOUT FIFTY PEOPLE ..... many will bring their own signs!
Here are guidelines we suggest for Vigil'ers:
Some people find it taxing to stand for a long time; be sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
The tone of the event should be meditative. Please hold signs
and banners at eye level, for good viewing. Avoid letting the
banners droop, or standing in front of a banner.
Periodically vigilers will be asked to walk slowly around the circumference of the common.
Please do not engage other vigil'ers in casual conversation; avoid clustering in any single area of the common. Traffic comes in several directions, and we need to have people and signs in as many areas as possible.
The vigil is limited to opposing the death penalty. Please do not bring signs advancing or opposing other issues.
Refer press to Mass. Citizens Against the Death Penalty
spokespersons. There will be two on site. Refer questions to
them, without disrupting your own silent vigil.
Thank YOU for YOUR participation and witness.
